Please be aware that an aggressive and sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, has been making the rounds throughout the country where callers claim to be employees of the IRS, but are not.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS and asking for money, please contact the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) at 1-800-366-4484 or at www.tigta.gov.
